Flexible Heating Elements

Flexible heating elements

Flexible Heating Elements are used for low temperature heating applications, and consist of fine resistance wire wrapped around a core of glass fibre.

Wires are selected from our range of resistance alloys according to power rating, resistance and environmetal conditions

A full design consultancy service is provided in order to achieve optimum performance.

Finished cable resistances generally fall within the range 1 to 10,000 ohms per metre, with typical power ratings of between 5 and 150 watts per metre.

Heater cords can be insulated with PVC, PTFE, silicone rubber or glass fibre to provide both mechanical protection and electrical insulation for the wire element.

Bare Heater Cord and Insulated Cable is supplied in continuous lengths from which individual elements can be manufactured and terminated with connector leads and crimped connectors.

Typical applications for flexible elements include:-

  • under-soil heating
  • electric blankets and anti-condensation heaters.
